Well I was little surprised when I came across this. looks like Clint Eastwood is directing this adaptation of a book by the name of Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Changed the World. Matt Damon will be playing Francois Pienaar (now there’s a sentence I never thought I would type). The book [...]

What a weekend of rugby, but started off on the worst foot.
The Cheetahs shouldn’t even be in this competition. Watching them against the Blues was painful and embarrassing. The Blues should hang their heads that they only won by 34 points.
At least the Cheetahs can win at one thing, and that’s taking the mantle off [...]

Well another weekend I still haven’t seen much ruggers. Only caught the glimpses of the Tah’s match and was pretty pissed by the time I saw the Force match, so cant really add much light on that game. It was all a blur of Cameron Shepherd and Nick “Man-Perm” Cummings.
The weekend started with an upset, [...]

Hurricanes take on their old rivals the Highlanders in what is bound to be a close clash. Rugby Oracle has the Hurricanes winning by 2. Both teams lost last week but Highlanders were out and out the better performers. Hurricanes normally take a while to warm up in this competition, so it could go [...]

Well, what can you say other than WOW!
What a start to the season.
Highlanders went crazy against the Brumbies in the first 20 mins leading 19-0 with only 28% territory. Then their only All Black (Cowan) left the field with a sore finger (but mullet still intact) and they were lost in the wilderness for the [...]

Has it just been stuck in the northen hemisphere that has me well impressed with the calibre of the Super 14 games this weekend. Maybe by week three I’ll be back to jaded and yelling at the tv: ”This isn’t godamn Murryfield!”, but for now I remain impressed. The Canes and Tahs besides. [...]

Well I know I can get excited about the game, but thought I would start early with a quick review of week negative 1.
The missus is o/s on secondment in Hong Kong, which means I can dedicate more of my time to the game. You have to feel sorry for our new puppy though, the [...]

Stop press! Clyde’s back! Clyde Rathbone, Saffer-born Wallaby and part-time bench-warmer Brumbie is back!
“It’s obviously been a while since I’ve played for the Brumbies, “, he said. 19 months to be exact. ” He continued: “but I’ve had half a season of club football under my belt since the injury and it’s responded [...]

Last year I was taking in the results of the Trial games into my calculations for the Super 14 games-proper. Which I think judging by this years trial games is a mistake. Stormers beat Saracens 43-33 which tells us what? That northern hemisphere rugby is still really second division. Revelation? [...]

Never mind recruiting and retrieving errant players this pre-season has seen coach moving as THE big preparation plan.
Sharks have hired Andrew Johns, the Aussie League evil-genius to help, in the words of PlanetRugby “with kicking, catching and a few other specifics”
I don’t know what they paid him or for how long he’s gonna be there but [...]

Another season of Super rugby is nearly upon us, people. It’s time to fish out the team jerseys from the attic, give them a stretch (it’s bound to have shrunk a little), wash off last year’s blood stains and staple it back to your chest for the next 4 months.
I have updated the site a [...]
