The gulf grows

Somewhat reassuring and a little sad to see the gulf between the North and Southern hemispheres is in the ascendant. Englands plunge into abject mediocrity means nothing has been learnt in the last 4 yrs and that their World Cup performance was an aberration and due to the presence of certain J.Wilkinson. Which on saturdays [...]

Rugbyoracle.com update

Just to let you know I have made the decision to shut rugbyoracle.com down from the end of the Super 14 season while I figure out what to do with it.
I enjoy doing it and I think the stats aren’t bad.  It’s a good predictor, as good as anything that the betting shops have going, I [...]

Favorite’s worst nightmare

So I’ve missed the two most interesting matches already.  This time zone thing is rubbish. There should be only one.
So the Stormers managed to get a 9 points deficit on the Chiefs at home, which isn’t bad.  I would have gone for the Chiefs based on Stormers’ rotation policy.  Their playing-well rotation policy, that is.  [...]

Desiccation cup

World cups over, time to suggest every crazy idea you can suck out of a can of Speights/VB/Hansa and make sure you mention it first to your media mates before suggesting it to, say, SANZAR.
The latest incarnation of which is O’Neill’s idea that we should extend the Super 14 to a half Japanese, half-Australian [...]

Baying for blood

Well first off – goddamn apologies for not posting anything for ages. Excuses run along the lines of starting a new job this week and having the wife’s sister over to help us look after new baba-Caz. Not bad reasons I think. Still poor form though.
And especially poor form as [...]

Wales – left of centre

Planet rugby is carrying an article where Chris Bryant, a member of parliament for Rhondda (who’s real name is Rhondda Cynon Taff, so you knows he’s welsh), is making a formal complaint about BBC’s coverage of the weekends 6 Nations games.  Apparently the big news was England’s ransacking of the flat France forwards and not [...]

League of Gentlemen

Cracking bunch of games this weekend.  Some very close games, indeed.  5 were won by 5 points and under. That’s close.  Like Eaton’s shave.  Closer even than the Chiefs ball to the try line and still be awarded, though.
I managed to watch the Chiefs game, some of the Crusaders and the Highlanders on x6 speed [...]
