Well another weekend I still haven’t seen much ruggers. Only caught the glimpses of the Tah’s match and was pretty pissed by the time I saw the Force match, so cant really add much light on that game. It was all a blur of Cameron Shepherd and Nick “Man-Perm” Cummings.
The weekend started with an upset, after the Crusaders cavalry came charging back onto the field, the Canes just sent them packing. Thorn and McCaw coming back from injury, didn’t help the team, especially when McCaw went straight back off seeing yellow. The Canes are starting to play to their potential maybe?
The Tahs had a good win as to be expected, but they looked a lot better than the previous weeks. Although they are still leaving huge gaps out wide, which the Highlanders tried to use, if only they could move the ball a little faster and pass to the chest. When are the Tahs going to give up on Burgess and let the little tank Sheehan have a full run?
Chiefs continue to be unlucky after having a number of tries denied by the video ref. But the Sharks are a class outfit which they have now proved against class opposition after the first two weeks of training runs.
How the Force won is an unknown. They only won one stat on paper, but the one that counts. Pure determination and will to win brought them home in the end and is great to see them shove it up the Brumbies. Git’s tried his hardest to let his Brumbies win by kicking like a mule, but luckily there are 14 other players on the Force side there to disrupt those plans. Huge smile on my face all weekend after that win. Ill say it again, “Man-Perm”, something needs to be done, bring out the clippers before the next match please.
Bulls are going to be feeling the pain after a wet win over the Lions. Bryan Habana injury could really set them back in the coming weeks. We’ll have to see how long he is out for. A very low scoring affair in the rain after the free flowing points the previous week again the Blues.
The Blues certainly upset the Stormers, obviously the kick in the bum from the Bulls spurred them on a little. The Stormers didn’t help themselves with multiple handling errors though.
The Sunday arvo game for the Reds was a scorcher, the poor Cheetahs have had a hard time with the heat since arriving a Oz. The Reds wasted their hot weather endurance failing to score the bonus point that they so desperately need. Big grudge match for them next week against the Tah’s, hopefully there is enough time for them to recover.
