Super 14 Week 12 – Part 1

Our first up match is the big grudge match of the weekend, certainly in our household. Baba has a shark’s outfit plus Crusaders hoody and booties. Oh dear.

Although it rips my heart out to say, I can’t see the Sharks pulling a fast one over the Knights-of-the-odd-shaped ball this weekend unless the last 2 weeks have been a cunning attempt by the Durbs side at lulling them into a false sense of security. Maybe they should have just kept Mugabe’s ammo – this might have stopped the media referring to them as toothless.

It’s going to be close though. The last 6 margin’s between the teams look like this: 1, 2, 43, 4,5,and 3. So although odds of 6-1 for the sharks look a little strong a shark’s handicap of say 8 points might still make you some money. Crusaders by 5.

Cheetahs host the highlanders in this bottom-dweller clash. Cheetahs have yet to beat them at home or away. Cheetahs have had a rest-up and are at home, but the Highlanders have just played gutsier rugby this season and I reckon on the men in dresses to cause an upset. Highlanders by 3.

The swamp kings travel across the ditch to take on the completely inconsistent Jaffa’s who have been beaten by every other Aussie team this season. So why the hell not the reds?
Well because they have conceded less and scored more than the reds. They’ve beaten the Reds the last 4 times they’ve played and finally only the Blues have a chance of making the semis. Blues by 6.

Both the Force and the Chiefs have everything to play for, sitting, as they are in 9 and 4th respectively. Rugbyoracle is going for Force against the odds, which is a bit of a surprise. This is mainly due to the Force having a relatively full strength side and having conceded 50 points less.

I cant see it, I think the ranking says it all as does momentum – the chiefs have won their last 5 games while the force have only managed 2 in the last 5 and those against an awful Bulls side and the Highlanders. Oh, and the Force have yet to beat the Chiefs in any Super 14 games. Chiefs by 12.
